SriLankan Airlines flights According to the state-run Antara News Agency, SJY 182 from Jakarta to Pontianak lost contact on Saturday at 2:40 pm West Indonesian time (2:40 am US Eastern time).
Sriwijaya Air said in a statement that they are “contacting parties to obtain more detailed information about the incident” and will “issue an official statement immediately” when more information is obtained.
According to Antara, Flight SJY 182 lost contact 11 nautical miles north of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, at an altitude of 11,000 feet, while rising to 13,000 feet.
Kasyonno said that Indonesian search and rescue agency Basarnas has sent a ship to the Kuril Islands-a series of islands north of the coast of Jakarta-to check the location where the aircraft is suspected of losing contact.
The Ministry of Transport said it is investigating and coordinating with Basarnas and the National Transportation Safety Board.
The aircraft registered as PK CLC is Boeing 737-500.
A Boeing spokesperson said in an interview with CNN that they are “aware of media reports in Jakarta and are closely monitoring the situation.”
They said: “We are working hard to gather more information.”
