HP’s new Elite Dragonfly laptop is equipped with Intel’s 11th-generation processor and 5G

HP will update its business-focused Elite Dragonfly series with updated G2 models and new Dragonfly Max options this year. Both laptops will be equipped with Intel’s latest 11th generation processors and optional 5G connectivity. The Max model even improved the built-in webcam and added a second black option to the range.

Both the 13.3-inch Dragonfly G2 and Dragonfly Max will be equipped with 11th-generation Intel processors, while i3 is only available on G2, while i5 and i7 processors are available in both options. Both can be configured with up to 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of M.2 SSD storage space. Both models will also include a USB 3.1

charging port, two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, an HDMI 1.4b port and Nano SIM support.

The real difference between the models is the display configuration and the webcam. Dragonfly Max can only be used with 13.3-inch high-definition (1920 x 1080) displays, and you can configure HD or 4K panels for Dragonfly G2. Both will still include options for HP’s privacy-oriented screens, including technology that can color the screen so that people passing by cannot spy on what you are doing.

Dragonfly Max will also include a 5-megapixel webcam, which is higher than the 1.2-megapixel on the G2. This is an indispensable change in the age of remote work when traditional laptop web cameras are often insufficient. Max also has four wide array microphones for better video and audio calls, and retains the dedicated webcam privacy slider on last year’s Dragonfly laptop. HP removed this manual slider on the G2 this year and replaced it with a button on the keyboard that activates the webcam shutter.

Both Dragonfly G2 and Max will include 5G options and support AT&T and T-Mobile networks in the United States. HP will also retain the built-in Tile tracker it introduced in the 2020 model. You can track your laptop like any other Tile device, as long as there is some battery life left.

HP said that both Dragonfly G2 and Max are expected to be available in January, but the company has not announced price details. Given that the basic model of Dragonfly G2 in 2020 is $1,500, this year’s model is destined to be an expensive choice for enterprises.
