How to observe the ball drop during the year.
Unfortunately, Times Square will be closed to the public tonight due to coronavirus issues, marking the first time the area has been empty on New Year’s Eve since 1907.
However, this does not mean that New York Carnival revellers will not have a prom: the iconic ball will still drop at midnight as part of the broadcast event.
How to watch the live broadcast
By watching New York Times Square’s official New Year’s Eve co-organizer Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment’s six-hour free commercial network broadcast, the world can witness the annual NYE wonders of New York City.
The virtual ball drop ceremony will again be hosted by Jonathan Bennett and will feature Jennifer Lopez, Cyndi Lauper, Jimmie Allen, machine guns Kelly, Andra Day (Andra Day), Gloria Gaynor (Gloria Gaynor), USO Performing Group and Waffle Team perform.

The annual event will start at 6 pm and end at 12:15 am
Viewers can live broadcast the coverage of the ball on TimesSquareNYC.org, NewYearsEve.nyc, Livestream.com/2021, TimesSquareBall.net and Facebook Live.

The ceremony will also be on CNN (starts at 8pm), Fox (starts at 10pm), NBC (starts at 10pm), TBS (starts at 11pm to 12:30), Univision (starts at 10pm) and YouTube TV Originals channel “Hello 2021: America” (starts at 10:30 pm).
