Great conjunction in 2020: Jupiter and Saturn will meet until Christmas. All these wonders you need to know

The next two junctions are scheduled to occur in 2040 and 2060, but viewing them is not as easy as it is now.

The big alliance that excites sky watchers is expected to last until Christmas. The pairing of Jupiter and Saturn is on December 21 and is expected to continue this week. The close travel between two planets is nothing more than a spectacle. For those who like to watch the constellations and the sky, it is a treat. It should be noted that a conjunction is a pairing between any two planets, and because Jupiter and Saturn are the two largest planets visible to the naked eye in the solar system, their combination is called a “great confluence.”

; Interestingly, the two planets are aligned about 20 years later, thus making this phenomenon relatively rare.

To be sure, it takes 12 years for Jupiter to complete its orbit around the sun, and 30 years for Saturn.

What makes this combination particularly unique is the arrangement of the planets. When observing the position of the planets on the Earth’s orbital plane, the two seem to be aligned. This means that they all project the same angle from the reference direction. From the earth, the distance between Jupiter and Saturn can differ by one-tenth. Some views may see them merge into one. However, audiences in most countries/regions say that they can be distinguished.

The rarity of this combination that can be seen from the earth can be reflected in the last great combination that occurred in 1623. According to a report from IE, this is the upcoming birth of Chhatrapati Shivaji, the Mughal Empire in India under Jahangir’s rule. Before this, people observed this combination in 1226, one year after the death of Mongolian ruler Genghis Khan.

At the same time, this spectacle is expected to last until this week, until December 25. On December 21, Jupiter has surpassed Saturn from Earth. Although the planets look close, they are more than 700 million kilometers apart. Moreover, the distance between them is smaller than usual in other commissures.

The next two junctions are scheduled to occur in 2040 and 2060, but viewing them will not be as easy as it is now. The next critical moment may be held on March 15, 2080.
