The best part of Chromecast refresh is the included Google TV interface, but like any other Google product, the UI will change over time. In early February, Google TV launched a revised home screen with smaller application icons, but in early April, everything returned to normal.
After switching back to a larger application icon, the article was updated on April 3rd.
In early February, some users saw a silent update to the Google TV home screen, which adjusted the size of the application icon to a greatly reduced position. The Google TV home screen lists apps on the main tab “For You”
It’s not easy to spot the difference at first glance (this may be deliberate by Google), but when you look closely, it’s obvious. The application row does reduce the size of the icons, leaving room for more icons, while also reducing the overall size of the row. Since launching, this part has been able to display seven complete application icons, as shown in the figure above, but after making this change, it can display nine, as shown in the figure below.
Functionally, this hasn’t changed much, but it does make the application lose some focus and focus on the content recommendation that Google TV excels at.
Initially, this change was not widely promoted and only targeted a small number of Reddit users. Within a few days, this change was promoted to all Google TV users, who at the time only included the new Chromecast.
As April 3, It seems that Google TV is returning its home screen application icons to normal-sized icons. We found the change on one of our Chromecast devices, and our friend Joe Maring also noticed the change on Twitter.
