Google Home, Nest speakers get new Casting sound

At the beginning of this year, after successfully establishing a Casting connection, Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max began to play new sounds, and the updated notification sounds now appear on Google Home and Nest speakers.

The new Casting sound with the Cast firmware version 1.54 will be released to the speakers registered in the preview program, and the current stable value is 1.50. The previous confirmation tone/beep has been around for several years, even if it was not the beginning of Chromecast.

The new tone is softer and fits well with the friendly Nest visual and auditory design language. Its depth is much smaller, so it won̵

7;t cause shock or shock to other people in the meeting room who may not realize that the Cast session is about to begin.

Today, we encountered it on both the Nest Mini and Google Home Max. You can compare the two versions below:

Since version 1.52, a refreshed Cast sound has been provided on Nest Hub and Hub Max. The major update of Smart Display in February also introduced a new Alarms interface with Sunrise, Zoom support and later three new clocks.

In the coming weeks, version 1.54 with this new Casting sound will be available for all Google Home and Nest speakers, and we have not heard any other changes.
