With the last overhaul in 2019, Google simplified the Home application from four home screens to two home screens. Google Home now has a customizable “Feed” tab setting to “select the types of events that may occur.”
In widespread use today, there is a new button in the upper left corner of the top of the second tab of Google Home. The “Feed Custom Settings” page begins with “Family”, and Google lists two categories:
- Home Routines: Home and Outing Routines
- Wi-Fi: network status, Wi-Fi activity
“Camera” will list the devices available in your home, and features vary by model. The Nest Cam on Hub Max only displays “seen events”
These new Google Home settings can make the “Priority” and “Recent” activities in the “Feed” tab already very busy, so it can be used less. The discovery suggestions at the bottom have not changed, but Google does update the heading font of each section to bold.
Google first announced this feature in Home 2.34 last month, and it also has real-time Google/Nest Wifi statistics and Nest Hub (second generation) support, but after this week’s 2.35 update, it is now available on Android and iOS Extensive promotion (server-side update) revealed a new Nest device.
