Gegard Mousasi defeated Douglas Lima and won the championship



Uncasville, Conn. – On Thursday, Gegard Mousasi (Gegard Mousasi) walked out of the cage on Bellator 250. He has won the Berto Middleweight title twice.

Mousassi (47-7-2 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) went out, grappled and stabbed his way, defeating Belat welterweight champion Douglas Lima (32-8) with a unanimous decision. MMA, 14-4 BMMA), scores 48-47, 49-46 and 49-46.

The vacant middleweight title race was held at the Bellator 250 Main Event at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. It was broadcast on the CBS Sports Network and on DAZN after the MMA Junkie pre-selection.

Originally scheduled to take place in May 2019, the battle was postponed for five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the first round, Mousassi used his muscles to drag Lima to the mat. From there, he was able to hook Lima’s back. Mousasi is very few but it is difficult to hit Lima.

The second round was more like a singles battle than the first round. Mousas followed Lima for most of the round. Although Lima’s counterattack achieved some success, he found himself pushed into the fence again in the next round.

Lima’s kick kick became active in the 3rd round and created his most successful attack so far in this game. However, Mousasi continued to lead Lima down. Mousasi’s jab stimulated everyone’s fight, especially in the third round.

In the fourth round, both fighters have their own moments. Mousasi’s boxing combination found its mark, but Lima’s counterattack was still effective. The two fighters exchanged brutal kicks and fought until a roughly even round.

In the final round, Mousasi and Lima walked back and forth. With 90 seconds left in the round, Moussasi finally got the complete clearance he had been seeking. Although he suppressed Lima for the rest of the battle, he was unable to cause any major attacks on it.

With the victory over Lima, Mousasi became the Bellator middleweight champion for the second time. Mousasi dates back to February 2016 and has won 9 of the past 10 games. His only defeat was decided after the majority vote of Rafael Lovato Jr. in the Bellator 200 game in June 2019.

Following Lovato’s victory at Mousasi, the then middleweight champion was diagnosed with a brain disease that led to his retirement. Therefore, the belt was vacated before the Bellator 250 main event.

In the defeat, Lima’s three-game winning streak was broken. Since 2012, Lima has only lost 3 times.
