Four people are being treated for possible rabies after being bitten by a raccoon, officials said.

After NBC4, there were four individuals who were bitten and treated at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Another person had brought her flip-flop from a raccoon to to the television station . She was not hurt.
The treatment of the other four was precautionary and they were dismissed. In the next few weeks, they have to be treated in the hospital.
Initially, NBC4 said that five people were treated for rabies.
The animal was not found according to WTOP, so it is not known if rabies is present.
Left untreated, rabies can be fatal to animals and humans.
