Apparently every big Pokémon game licks in advance and a new generation of entries could follow. Over the past few days, a series of online contributions that spread the word about the next big pocket monster game have caught fire in the Pokémon community. If they are real, these leaks promise Pokémon games that are both familiar and yet different from the fans' expectations.
Yesterday, anonymous users uploaded to 4Chan what they considered to be the names and logos of . Pokémon Games: Pokémon Let's go! Pikachu Edition and Pokémon Let's go! Eevee Edition :
This rumor triggered the recirculation of another 4Chan thread, released in late March, listing a number of features that also revolve around Pikachu and Eevee-centric Pokémon games.
Fake Pokémon Leaks are a dime, and cheaters try to play the manufactured Photoshop stores all the time. But people have for some reason remembered these recent rumors. For one thing, we know that Game Freak is looking for ways to connect their games to the popular Pokémon Go – they've already confirmed Kotaku in 2016:
Recently, Internet snoopers discovered that the websites "pokemonletsgopikachu.com" and "pokemonletsgoeevee.com" were registered by CSC Corporate Domains, Inc. – the same company that acts as the technical contact for the official website pokemon-sunmoon.com. However, the latest domain registrations do not name Nintendo, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company what the pokemon-sunmoon.com entries do.
It is possible that another entity used CSC Corporate to crack the domain names, but there are a few other details that give the fire new food. The March Leak says "next" Pokémon will return, and as we reported back in 2016, Game Freak contained unused running animations for each monster in the game. This aspect of the leak seems to be picking up, as Game Freak has apparently been working on creatures in modern games following the player on the main map.

Earlier this year, an extremely blurry screenshot bizarrely showing an Eevee on Lapras appeared online. It seemed to show a way from the original Pokémon games:
At that time, the screenshot was dismissed as fake: The optics looked too much like the 3DS generation of Pokémon a switch Be a game. And why was an Eevee apparently on the head of the coach? It seemed too funny. But the newer leaks say something strange: "Pokémon attacks work as in Go ." This could mean a lot of things, but based on the above screenshot, one possible explanation is that the new game is going to be rid of random encounters, and instead show the actual monsters on the map. Pokémon Go shows you creatures on your screen before you engage with them, instead of going into battle without knowing what you are dealing with. In addition, a remake of Yellow would explain why veterans find this route familiar. Yellow remains one of the few old-school games that Game Freak can not renew for a modern system, so moving would be a good idea.
Pokémon Yellow which was published back in 1998, was the third version of the original Red and Blue release. Instead of choosing a starter as usual, players embark on a journey with a Pikachu. However, your competitor wears an Eevee. In this game, Pikachu could follow you on the map and you could also stop talking to him to see what the monster feels like. Since the game was already the third version of two existing games, there was no Eevee-centric entry at this time. Given the workings of your rival, Eevee is surrounded by a modern remake, as the Pikachu counterpart makes sense.
Other evidence about the potential new games is more cumbersome. In April, an official Pokémon account apparently winked at the leaked screenshot with some stuffed animals:
In fact, the account seems to have a penchant for pairing Pikachu and Eevee, possibly, because the account Eevee-centric is natural:
Pokémon Sun and Moon Producer Junichi Masuda emphasizes the pairing of Pikachu and Eevee also in his social media :
Granted, these pictures can not mean anything. Pikachu is the Pokémon mascot and tends to appear in almost all Pokémon-related games. Anecdotally, Eevee seems to be the second most popular monster in the world. Almost every game in the series introduces a new form of fluffy animal. If Pikachu and Eevee are paired together, this can be a simple fan service. Given how loved both Pokémon seem to be, entries that relate to them make a lot of sense.
One aspect that makes this leak confusing is that Pokémon fans expect a new entry into the mainline franchise as Game Freak announced a "core" title last year. Remakes do not seem to fit, and it's disappointing to think that the next Pokémon game on Switch will look so much like 3DS games. Should not there be a big graphical or mechanical jump? These leaks do not promise any of this, and instead seem to be geared to catching the attention of existing Pokémon Go players or fans of the old school.
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company did not make a request for comment.
