Jay Glazer’s title is simple. The import is a bit nuanced.
As Glazer said, the Crow and Falcon Company contacted the recipient, Julio Jones. But, unfortunately for everyone involved, the Julio contract made transactions impossible.
But the Ravens knew the contract when they called the Falcons. Therefore, the problem is not the contract itself. This is what Falcon and/or Jones are willing or unwilling to do with the contract in order to facilitate the transaction.
Jones’ full salary base salary in 2021 is $15.3 million. The crow may want the Falcon to pay part of the money. For example, the Panthers agreed on Wednesday to pay $7 million of the $10 million guarantee to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to facilitate a sixth-round draft pick deal for the Broncos. The day before, the Dolphins agreed to pay $6 million of the $9 million owed to offensive border guard Erek Flowers (Ereck Flowers) to make up for the slippery track of the deal to Washington. If the Falcons are motivated to mobilize Jones, they may also need to be motivated to pay part of his salary in 2021.
In turn, Jones may need to be willing to adjust his contract. Although by 2021, less than $15.3 million in income should be considered a starting point, because all of this is guaranteed, he can restructure the transaction to reduce this year’s ceiling.
If, of course, if he doesn’t want to play for the Ravens or any other team, Jones only needs to answer any request for “reduction of the 2021 cap fee” and say “no thanks” if this is part of the new contract. .
Similarly, the crow knows about Jones’ contract. The question is whether Falcon and/or Jones will do everything the Crow wants to accomplish, and Jones’ trade compensation will definitely be affected by Falcon’s willingness or unwillingness to pay $15.3 million. Whether this change depends on whether another team is willing to accept the terms proposed by the Falcons and/or Jones, and whether it does not depend on whether the Falcons and/or Jones are more willing to move toward Baltimore.
Since the Falcon cannot trade Jones before June 2, there is time to calculate it. The biggest potential obstacle is whether interested buyers will meet their needs at the recipient’s location tonight, tomorrow or the next day.
