England’s chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, said on Monday that the UK is currently at the deadliest moment of the coronavirus pandemic, and the number is higher than last year’s peak.
“We must be very clear that we are now in the worst period of this epidemic. In the future, we will receive the vaccine, but the current number is higher than the previous peak-a certain distance,”
He said that he expects the next few weeks to be the “most dangerous time,” for vaccines launched nationwide to have an impact. Whitty added that there are currently more than 30,000 people in the hospital and that number is still rising.
We are now in a situation: In the UK, 1 out of 50 people is infected with the virus, while in London, the ratio is about 30 people. [in] Parts of London are about one in 20, so it is very likely that if you meet someone unnecessarily, they will have Covid. “
Whitt warned that after opening seven vaccination centers in England, efforts to continue to substantially increase the number of people receiving vaccinations. People over the age of 80 and health and social care workers living near these establishments are now provided with appointment opportunities.
Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi (Nadhim Zahawi) said that Britain’s goal is to vaccinate about 15 million of the most vulnerable members of society by mid-February.
He told the BBC’s Radio 4 program: “This is indeed a race against time.”
“Once we open more vaccination centers next week and next week and the week after community pharmacies, then… no one should exceed a ten-mile radius.”
British Health Minister Matt Hancock told the BBC on Sunday that all adults in the UK will be vaccinated in the fall. Hancock will hold a press conference later on Monday to announce the delivery plan.
