Tesla is obviously still planning to build a 1950s-style small restaurant at the new Santa Monica supercharger station.
Elon Musk said in 2018 that Tesla plans to “open an old-school ride, skate and rock restaurant in one of the new locations of the Tesla Supercharger in Los Angeles.”
This is another “Is he kidding?” It’s a bit like Elon Musk’s idea, but he’s obviously not kidding.
A few months later, Tesla actually applied for a building permit for a “restaurant and supercharger station” at a location in Santa Monica.
The project was put on hold for about three years until a new construction application was submitted last month.
But these new plans do not include restaurants, although it does include restaurants that will become one of the world̵
Now, Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded that the Supercharger gas station in Santa Monica is experiencing some waiting time issues. The restaurant is still planning:
The new large supercharger station is coming to Santa Monica! Hope to also show the dinner of the 50s and the 100 best films. Thanks to the city of Santa Monica!
The project encountered some problems during the city’s approval process, but Musk’s comments seemed to confirm the progress of the project.
As of last month, the plan showed 62 Supercharger booths, sun awnings and some amenities.
Tesla stated on its Supercharger map that its goal is to open Supercharger stations in the third quarter of 2021, which will add some popular charging capabilities to the region.
Tesla dinner in the 1950s
In the past few years, Tesla has been trying to add more fragrances to the Supercharger station.
It includes a lounge and a small coffee shop.
For Tesla, eating will be the first and more extreme step, because Tesla has no experience in operating restaurants, but the automaker may want to cooperate with another company on the project.
In a previous comment, Musk mentioned that Tesla has a retro-style burger shop, and the waiter on the skates is serving their people while they are charging.
