Police and sources said that in a random and terrifying attack on Christmas Eve, a staff member of the New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Manhattan office was killed by cinders on the head.
According to the New York Police Department and sources, Lisa Cavanaugh, 51, just got off work and was walking on a construction site on Third Avenue near 48th Street at about 2:15 pm. A stranger was crawling behind her.
Police said the man hit her in the back of the head with a concrete block and fled to the west of East 48th Street.
Law enforcement officials said that Kavanaugh was temporarily knocked out by the attack.
She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, about 20 blocks south of the scene, with multiple slits in the back of her head.

According to sources, it is believed that Kavanaugh was returning home from get off work.
Law enforcement officials said that two witnesses had witnessed the attack and alerted the police.
A source familiar with her situation said that Kavanaugh needed stitches to close the wound, adding that considering all the circumstances, she did a good job.
The source said that she was conscious that the hospital staff was “taking care of her.”
The police said that by Thursday night, the attacker was still in an empty state.
The New York Police Department released a photo and surveillance video of a man at the scene, and a police officer said that the man was wanted.
According to her profile on LinkedIn, Kavanov has been recruiting and appointing officer in the governor’s office since at least September.
