Richmond, Virginia (WWBT)-Former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dominion Energy II. Thomas F. Farrell died one day after resigning from the company’s leadership position.
Dominion Energy said that the 66-year-old Farrell (Farrell) has been battling cancer and has turned around in recent weeks.
Farrell served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2020.
Chairman, President and CEO Robert M. Blue said: “Tom is an unparalleled mentor and outstanding leader, he seeks to find challenges in Dominion Energy, the utility industry and the community he calls home. Innovative solutions.”
Farrell became the president and chief operating officer of the Dominion in 2004, president and chief executive officer in 2006, and was elected chairman in 2007-the position he held until April 1.
“During his tenure as CEO, he was committed to developing the company’s regulated asset portfolio, building clean energy facilities, and committed to achieving net zero emissions commitments to reduce pollutant emissions, improve workplace safety, and promote suppliers and workplaces. Diversity, hiring veterans, supporting their philanthropy and community presence, etc. As a leader, he always puts the well-being of employees, customers, and the communities served by the company first.” Dominion Energy said.
