Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that a representative injured in a rough ambush in Compton, California last weekend was released from the hospital on Wednesday.
“Good news, one of the representatives was released from the hospital today,” Vilanuyeva tweeted on Wednesday night. “He has a long road to recovery. But he is not alone. As a community, we are together.”
Villanueva did not recognize the representative. He was one of two people who were shot in the head when sitting in a marked car near the bus stop on Saturday.

Video of the attack showed a gunman in dark clothes stepping into their vehicle, firing at the passenger side window and fleeing.

The sheriff said earlier Wednesday that investigators are following “multiple leads” and believe they are making progress in large-scale investigations of gunmen and possible escaped drivers.
