COVID-19 hospitalizations rise in 4 major counties in North Texas

As the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to rise across the state, counties in North Texas are seeing similar trends.

The four major counties in North Texas have seen an increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, a trend similar to other counties across the state.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is a clear way to track the extent of the virus infecting a particular area, because it does not depend on the number of people to be tested or the number of tests available.

Each part of the story will subdivide the number of COVID-1

9 patients hospitalized daily in Dallas, Tarrant, Colin, and Denton counties.

The WFAA studied the daily COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state between now and July 23. At that time, the state updated the reporting requirements and data definitions, which means becoming a COVID-19 patient in the hospital.

The main difference is that before that, the hospital reported laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients in two areas: MedSurg and ICU.

Since July 23, the hospital has been required to report MedSurg, ICU, surge and pediatric cases.

Due to changes in data fields, it is unknown which hospital included laboratory-confirmed patients in emergency beds before this point in time.

Dallas County hospitalized

In September, an average of 229 COVID-19 hospitalized patients per day in Dallas County began to flatten the curve.

The October average has jumped to 359.

Since October 19, the county’s hospital has had at least 400 COVID-19 patients every day. As of Tuesday, the number was 498.

Tarrant County Hospital

The number of people in Tarrant County Hospital is similar to that in Dallas County Hospital.

In September, an average of 242 people in Tarrant County were hospitalized with COVID-19 every day. From August 26 to September 27, these hospitals never had more than 300 COVID-19 patients.

In October, Tarrant County had an average of 423 hospitalized patients every day. There were 535 COVID-19 patients in the county on Tuesday.

Colin County Hospital

Hospitals in Collin County did not agree with the hospital stay in September, but the county increased the total number of 181 COVID-19 hospitalizations on July 23 to 195 on Tuesday.

In September, Collin County had an average of 87 COVID-19 hospitalizations per day, and an average of 134 in October.

Denton County Hospitalization

Among the four counties, Denton County has the largest daily ups and downs.

In September, an average of 36 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in hospitals in the county every day, and an average of 55 in October.
