Dr. Anthony Fauci said in the Friday segment of “Neil Cavuto and Your World” on Fox News when he talked about the possibility of having to wear a mask before 2022 , He is “completely out of context.”
When the host Neil Cavuto was criticized in an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” in February, Fauci said “Come on, let’s take it seriously.” (Related: CNN’s Sanjay Gupta said that the fourth significant increase in the coronavirus is “unlikely” in the United States)
Cavuto first noticed the criticism of Fauci by Marty Makary, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, who considered his response to the pandemic “too cautious”
“Well, first of all, I want to answer one thing that the man said, and that is that he totally misunderstood,” Fauci replied. “He said that when I talk about cattle immunization, I only consider people who have been vaccinated. That is completely incorrect.”
He went on to say that herd immunization is an “illusory concept” because we don’t know the percentage of people who have been infected and may be infected by the virus, except for those who have been vaccinated. He added that the larger the total number, the closer we are to “getting a package of protection in the entire community.”
He continued: “For being too cautious, we want to make sure that when making recommendations, we are based on science.” “You can say that this is indeed the case, it is a fact. If you are vaccinated, if you don’t have any If the symptoms are infected, it is very likely that the infection will not spread. There is no doubt. I and anyone else understand.”
Then he said that once research shows that this is true, if people are vaccinated, they can wear masks. He added that he hopes to remain conservative until then and wait until they get the data to prove it.
“But wear a mask by 2022, doctor? Do you still insist?” Cavuto jumped in.
“Come on, let’s take this seriously. That is totally without context. I mean-” Fauci replied, and Cavuto jumped in again and asked, “Do you think this is wrong? You think it shouldn’t be worn in 2022 Masks?”
“We don’t know. I’m not saying we will.” Fauci said: “If our numbers surge and the number of cases continues to increase, then we might have to wear masks in 2022. “If we continue to vaccinate people and keep the vast majority of people with those who are already infected and the level of infection drops, we probably won’t have to do this.
“We are playing this game here. You listen to someone say a word or a sentence, and then you show your sincerity to them. No, I didn’t make it clear that we will undoubtedly wear masks in 2022. I said, In some cases, we may have to do this. But in some cases, we may not have to do this.” He concluded.
