Colorado Department of Labor software flags thousands of claims

Denver (AP)—The fraud detection program included in the upgraded Colorado Department of Labor and Employment software has flagged thousands of unemployment claims as suspicious.

Colorado Public Radio reported that after the department completed the installation on Sunday, the anti-fraud system flagged about 20% of about 32,000 payment requests. The department said the system would look for the attributes of 27 suspicious accounts, ranging from claimants over 100 years old to deceased persons listed in public records.

An official said that it is possible to temporarily suspend the number of people who have entered the software-driven network by mistake.
