CNN says it will end the airport network on March 31-deadline

CNN will discontinue its airport network, which provides news to airport monitors across the country.

CNN President Jeff Zucker wrote in a memo that the network will cease operation on March 31.

Zach wrote: “Due to COVID-19, airport traffic has dropped dramatically, coupled with all new ways people consume content on personal devices, reducing the demand for the network.”

The network has been in operation for 30 years.

Zach wrote: “I’m sure most of us have a story that tells which airport we were at when we first learned of a major news event.” “In the past three decades, we have been with millions of people. People have shared some incredible stories and we are proud of that.”

CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported the news for the first time.

The network has sent customized news to nearly 60 airports in the United States. The content is a mix of news, weather and lifestyle programs. The network has attracted a lot of viewers, although more and more people watch videos on their personal devices.

It is not clear how many employees the shutdown will affect. CNN concluded its Great Big Story digital adventure in September.
