Bloodstained: Night Ritual receives its own 8-bit style counterpart from Inti Creates. The retro platformer specialists promised a smaller prequel game as a stretch target during the Kickstarter campaign, and now the studio has announced the first details. It is called "Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon" and comes on May 24th.
"Pirates of the Moon" contains four playable characters familiar to fans of his Castlevania inspirations: Zangetsu using a sword; Miriam, with a whip; Alfred, the alchemist; and Gebel, a shapeshifter who can turn himself into a bat. You start as Zangetsu and get more allies as you progress, and you can switch between them as you please. The more allies you have, the more versatility in combat, and you can go on through one level, even if you die as long as another character remains. Stages also have areas that only certain characters can access.
