A medical examiner has determined the cause of death of lifestyle influencer Emily Mitchell, who died with her unborn child a few days before Christmas.
Mitchell, pregnant with her fifth child, suddenly became unresponsive on the morning of December 22 and was eating breakfast. Efforts to save the 36-year-old and her fetus were unsuccessful.
According to a family’s GoFundMe page, the Rhode Island blogger based on the Hidden Way Instagram account died of a pulmonary embolism. The page announced the findings of the medical examiner’s investigation on Tuesday.
Pulmonary embolism involves blood clots in the human pulmonary artery. This situation is very common, but it can be fatal. Pregnant women are often at higher risk.
A friend announced the latest news on behalf of Mitchell’s husband Joseph.
“A few days ago, we learned from the State Medical Examination Office that the official cause of death was pulmonary embolism. Although it is a challenge to concentrate on solving this, we know that all first responders and medical staff are doing their best to help, so we can be sure of this. It’s just her time. Jehovah told her to go home.”
Mitchell shared the news of her recent pregnancy with her 174,000 followers on November 19. It is not clear when the baby named Joey by the couple will expire. On December 8, she wrote to her followers that she would undergo the fifth cesarean section.
