Cat S62 Pro (Caterpillar’s Cat) is now available in the United States. This rugged smartphone is the latest device with the Cat brand logo (technically, this is a product of the licensee Bullitt Group), and is based on the integrated thermal imager function of its predecessor. Its design takes into account the needs of construction and industrial workers. The price is US$699. It is the more attractive product of the S61 in 2018. The latter debuted in the United States at a price of US$899.
The S62 Pro was launched in the UK last summer and has reliable phone specifications (if not super competitive), and the rugged phone category cannot be guaranteed. You will get a 5.7-inch 1
That’s boring stuff. The exciting feature that the S62 Pro must provide includes its marquee function: the built-in Flir thermal imaging camera has four times the thermal pixels of its predecessor. The phone provides a new mode that allows users to adjust and merge the overlay information of a standard 12-megapixel camera to provide more context for the thermal image. There is also an option to set an alarm that will notify you when a certain temperature level is detected.
As for its solid reputation, the S62 Pro is rated IP68 and IP69: the first one shows that it can be safely immersed in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, and the second one can withstand high-pressure spray. The company stated that it has tested under more severe conditions than this, but still guarantees the level of these official IP ratings.
It can withstand drops up to 6 feet high on a steel surface, and its Gorilla Glass 6 screen is supported by an additional factory-installed screen protector. S62 Pro also meets the requirements of the MIL-STD-810 military standard, including anti-vibration and thermal shock resistance.
S62 Pro is not currently available at any major US carrier, but it can be unlocked directly from Cat phones and third parties including Amazon and Home Depot.
