(CNN)— Officials said Monday that the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim will soon become the first “super” Covid-19 vaccination site in Orange County, California.
Officials said the resort will be one of several “super POD” sites (point distribution points) that can provide vaccinations to thousands of residents every day. It will be operational later this week.
Andrew Do, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Disneyland, said: “Disneyland Resort is the largest employer in the heart of Orange County. It has stepped up to host the county’s first super POD site, and will be responsible for the vaccination process. A difficult task.”

Officials said that as the agreement is finalized, more “super POD sites” will be announced.
The county has a population of approximately 3.1 million. According to data from the county, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 190,000 people have tested positive for Covid-19 and more than 2,100 people have died.
About 2221 people are still hospitalized for this virus, of which more than 500 are in the intensive care unit.
The county is currently vaccinating people in stage 1a-key and healthcare personnel and people over 75. Those who meet the conditions must arrange an appointment to be vaccinated at the Super POD location.
Supervisor Donald P. Wagner said in a statement: “It is important to vaccinate as many people as possible for Covid-19, and we need to have enough space to do it.” “I thank Disney.
