BREAKING: Walt Disney World issued a statement regarding recent large-scale layoffs in the entertainment industry; more entertainment will be brought back “in due course”

Bettina Buckley, the vice president of the Walt Disney World Resort Entertainment Company, issued a statement regarding the massive layoffs in the Walt Disney World Entertainment Division in response to the public’s comments on performances and performers in theme parks and resorts. Strongly opposed. The statement addresses the “difficult decision” to fire hundreds of performers throughout the resort, while touting the few entertainment options that are still available.

At WDWNT, we are frustrated with the live entertainment at Walt Disney Park because these performers (and frontline actors) bring the park to life every day. For a complete list of shows and performances that have recently been affected by mass layoffs, click here.

Live entertainment from Walt Disney World Resort:

Walt Disney World Resort offers a rich experience for guests of all ages. We recognize that one of the magic of visiting any Disney park is to meet Disney̵

7;s favorite friends and discover unique shows and performances. Since the reopening, we have been providing improved character experiences and entertainment activities throughout the resort, while also taking appropriate measures to protect the health and safety of guests and actors.

Recently, we have had to make some difficult decisions to reduce our workforce, because the business impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has become longer than anyone expected. As a result, we had to suspend many live performances and entertainment experiences in the resort for longer than originally expected.

Although it is not yet possible to completely replace the incredible entertainment that existed in the entire park before the pandemic, we will provide live entertainment in a new way, including character cavalry and pop-up performances in all four parks, such as “From the inside out” play on the lawn near Imagination! EPCOT’s pavilion. In addition, we will also exhibit adapted programs, such as the popular “Forever First Time: A Frozen Singing Celebration” in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and live performances such as the Main Street Philharmonic Orchestra of the Magic Kingdom Disney’s Discovery Island drummer. The animal kingdom. This extends to our seasonal products, Halloween is going on and the holidays are approaching. In fact, on the occasion of the upcoming EPCOT International Festival celebrations on November 27, the most popular “Voice of Freedom” will return and join JAMMitors and Mariachi Cobre at the American Garden Theater.

Determining which shows can be returned and when is a complex process. As with other phased reopening, we will also consider the guidance of health officials and government agencies to determine when is the right time to adjust production capacity, and when appropriate, we will begin to bring back more entertainment opportunities.

Like most fans, we know that our favorite entertainment shows are an incredibly special and essential part of the Disney experience. We look forward to the day when we can welcome more live entertainment back to our park, and we will share as much news about these announcements as possible.

In late August, when thousands of actors were still on vacation, the Walt Disney Company restored its executive salaries.
