The police station said that on Saturday morning, the police arrested a possible bank robber in West San Jose and rushed the bomb squad to the scene to check the suspicious device left by the robber.
The police said that at about 9:35 in the morning, the police responded to the Chase Bank branch in the 1700 block of Saratoga Avenue near the Westgate and El Paseo de Saratoga shopping centers.
Witnesses reported on social media that the robber was armed, but the police did not immediately confirm that this was an attempted armed robbery.
The police said that the suspect was detained at the scene and no injuries were reported.

The bank is located in one of the busiest areas of the city, with two large shopping malls and several popular restaurants at the intersection of three main corridors (Saratoga Avenue, Lawrence Highway and Prospect Road/Campbell Avenue).
