President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Thursday, requiring masks to be worn on planes, trains, buses and airports as the coronavirus infection continues to rise.
The Trump administration refused to prescribe masks for air travel and other modes of transportation. Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has repeatedly recommended their use, private companies set up their own police.
This forced flight attendants and other employees to enforce the rules. The unions seeking authorization from the federal mask encouraged Biden̵
Sara Nelson, the chairman of the country’s largest flight attendants association (CWA), said: “What changes have been made by the leadership! We welcome President Biden to suppress the virus nationwide and free us from this epidemic. Sick approach.” Statement. “Today, the administrative actions taken to authorize masks for interstate travel, including airports and airplanes, will provide frontline flight attendants and aviation workers with much needed support.
Julie Hedrick, president of the Professional Flight Attendants Association, expressed appreciation for this move, which represents American Airlines flight attendants.
She said in a statement: “When passengers travel on different airlines and through different airports, they should have clear expectations of the rules. We thank President Biden for taking this immediately.”
All major U.S. airlines require passengers to wear masks on board-this policy has been extended to airports. Airline executives said that most customers abide by this rule, but they vowed to take a hard line on those who refuse. As of last week, airlines had banned more than 2,500 people from flying because they refused to wear masks. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pointed out that some rare cases have even turned into violent incidents.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned this month that it will severely crack down on unruly behavior and travelers who do not follow the instructions of the crew and impose a fine of up to $35,000.
Biden ordered that air travellers, including citizens, must also show the results of the recent Covid-19 negative test before flying abroad to the United States, reiterating the CDC policy announced last week. The regulations will take effect on Tuesday.
Biden said passengers must self-isolate upon arrival.
