Apple said on Friday that it will replace AirPods Pro headsets that have sound problems.
These problems include static or cracking noise that increases in noisy environments, and active noise reduction issues.
Apple said that AirPod Pro produced after October 2020 does not have this problem.
Owners who encounter problems can contact Apple online or make an appointment at the Apple store to replace their AirPods Pro for free. Only devices that are confirmed to have problems will be replaced.
Replacement is only for buds, not for charging cases. Apple does not provide similar procedures for other AirPod models.
Users reported serious problems with AirPod Pro earlier this year. In May, Apple published a support document on its website and provided troubleshooting suggestions for the problem. It is replacing those devices under warranty.
Apple’s AirPods are a popular line of wireless headsets. Apple did not get revenue from AirPods, but Apple reported revenue from other products of $7.8 billion for the quarter ended September, including AirPods and other headsets and Apple Watch.
