Amazon has announced its latest TV video streaming device: Today, the company launched an upgraded and more powerful Fire TV Stick for $39.99. However, with the launch of the new Fire TV Stick Lite at only $29.99, Amazon has become more aggressive in terms of price, which it claims is the “most powerful” streaming device with a price of less than $30. Both have high-definition quality streaming capabilities and extended HDR colors, and will be released on September 30.
The standard Fire TV Stick on Lite will be faster when launching apps and launching streams. Another difference is that the remote control of the Fire TV Stick has volume and mute controls for the TV, while the Lite does not. However, both support voice search and commands via Alexa.
In addition, the Fire TV home screen will undergo a major redesign later this year, including improved navigation for personal user profiles and application shortcuts with a “favorites”
Like other new products announced today, Fire TV Stick and Stick Lite will enter a low-power mode when not actively used for energy saving.
A few days before today’s Amazon event, Lite leaked, and images of the latest Fire TV and its remote control appeared in WinFuture.de.
Amazon said there are currently more than 40 million active Fire TV accounts.
