Airbnb says it will ban rioters from entering the District of Columbia inauguration

Airbnb said it will review all reservations in the Washington area, and anyone associated with hate groups will be cancelled and banned from using Airbnb. The company also stated that it will take action against individuals involved in criminal activities at the Capitol, including permanently banning them from accessing the platform.

Airbnb did not disclose what actions will be taken outside the ban.

Airbnb’s steps may not stop a person Staying in one of its attributes out of violent intentions. The names of everyone involved in the congressional riots are unknown, so it is difficult to issue a comprehensive ban. Airbnb said it was cross-referencing the January 6 arrest log of the DC Police Department. It is also looking for press releases from US prosecutors listing arrests and charges.

Since expanding DC’s security program on Monday, Airbnb has declined to say whether it has cancelled any reservations. According to the FBI, Airbnb also declined to say whether it will review all reservations near the state capitol where armed protests are planned.
The Mayor of Washington, DC, Muriel Bowser encouraged Americans to stay away from the city and watch the inauguration online.

Hotels in the Washington, DC area will also have to bear the risk of hosting people who rioted in the Capitol last week.

Thomas Penny, president of Donohoe Hospitality Services, which runs 12 hotels in the DC area, said people attending Capitol events live in some of his hotels. But he said that his hotel did not know who was involved in the violence.

Penny said that his hotel had dealt with some “problems”, but a large number of guests were peaceful last week. He declined to elaborate on the problem. He said that after the inauguration, his hotel near the Capitol will remain safe but will continue to operate.

Penny said: “We ask people to respect our team and follow the guidelines of our hotel.” “As long as they do, they respect our people and follow our guidelines. We welcome everyone here.”

He said his hotel made room rates attractive to members of the National Guard. Thousands of National Guards are expected to hold inauguration in the city.

The Washington, DC Hotel Association did not respond to a request for comment.
