On Monday night, Internet outages affected most of the state, and spectrum services have been restored to northern New England.
A spokesperson told the Maine News Center that Spectrum had discovered two separate fiber optic outages in its network, affecting the video, telephone and Internet services of customers in Maine and New Hampshire. Multiple separate outages affected its backup services.
The suspension affected city council meetings statewide, and the Portland and Rockland city councils cancelled meetings. The Portland City Council rescheduled the meeting to April 12.
