India recorded 103,558 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, the highest single-day infection rate so far since the pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a high-level meeting on Sunday to review the Covid-19 situation.
“(He) called on people to pay attention to the need to increase medical infrastructure, oxygen supply, necessary logistical ventilators in all cases to avoid deaths, and to ensure that clinical management procedures are followed in all hospitals and home care,” the Prime Minister’s Office The statement said.
Modi also instructed a team of public health experts to be sent to Maharashtra, which has contributed 57% of the country’s coronavirus cases in the past two weeks.
As of Monday, India has recorded 12,589,067 coronavirus cases, ranking third in the world, including 165,101 related deaths and 11,682,136 recoveries. According to the Indian Ministry of Health, it also distributed 79,105,163 doses of vaccine.
