Abigail Breslin announced on Friday that her father had died of COVID-19, just two weeks after she urged fans to wear a mask.
Breslin, 24, shared a series of forgotten photos of her father, including a lengthy statement. She remembered him as “perfect, amazing, and heroic” in her memories, and shared touching anecdotes of his life .
“Oh, wow. It’s hard to write this. It’s harder than I thought. I was shocked and devastated,” Breslin’s statement began.

She went on to describe her father as a “lively, fanatical, tenacious, rebellious, intelligent, cute, and incredible person who “loves life.”
“He likes simple things… He likes a cup of coffee (black, heating for 66 seconds). He likes good Knish (but only in winter). He likes grilling (and we like brown mustard). He only likes French Yellow. He likes Bryeyer’s ice cream (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate NEO style), and he likes doowop songs, especially “I Wonder Why” by Dion and The Belmonts and “Under The Boardwalk” by The Drifters, Breslin’s. The actress also revealed the nickname her father would call her “abba dabba”. She said that both of them love animals.
She recalled his love of “photographs, flying planes, dinner… funny YouTube videos and emails, strange poetry and political activities, he loves me, he loves my brother, and he loves my mother.”
Breslin concluded: “We love him. We will always. I miss you, Dad. I can’t wait to see you again. I will never, never, never forget you. To the moon and the Dada River…love, always belongs You, Abs.”

Breslin announced the death of her father two weeks after she revealed on Instagram that he had been diagnosed with the deadly virus.
“Hi, everyone. Unfortunately, this post I made is not what I thought about. I am praying and expressing a positive attitude for my dad Michael, whose test result for COVID-19 is Positive, it must be put on the ventilator this morning.” Breslin wrote. “We will continue to maintain a positive attitude and know that he has been greatly cared for. I am very grateful to the nurses and doctors who are working hard to ensure that he is fighting this virus.”
In another article, she explained the importance of wearing a mask.
Breslin wrote: “That’s what I mean, if you ask my father: masks are much less than ventilators.” “Too bad. Put on your damn mask. Please. No one can wear this. .”

The actress expressed a similar view on her official Twitter account, which has more than 219,400 followers. Two days before Breslin urged her 527,000 Instagram followers to wear masks when they went out, she asked them to pray and express positive thoughts to her father.
