On Friday night, when Republican Representative Mike Nearman of Oregon exited the state capitol, he opened a door to allow protesters to enter the building during the legislative session.
In the security video obtained by Oregonian/OregonLive, the representative exited through two doors and briefly pushed one door further open to allow the protesters to enter the premises. Then a bunch of protesters were seen entering the building, and then the state police deported them, causing clashes.
At the time of the leak, a special coronavirus meeting was taking place in the Capitol. Oregon media reported that those who entered the building illegally, with some rifles, were protesting against the state̵
During the protest, some protesters took violent actions and reportedly attacked journalists. As seen in the video, something was sprayed on an officer.
Oregonians reported that at least two people were arrested in the incident.
Hill has contacted Nearman’s office to comment.
