Since the pandemic began in March, seven people have tested positive for the coronavirus on the first cruise ship entering the Caribbean.
According to USA Today, SeaDream 1 ended its voyage after multiple passengers tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
Despite strict precautions taken before the voyage, an outbreak still occurred. Cruise company officials said that before boarding, passengers must undergo two negative COVID-19 tests and check its temperature every day. They also said that the ship was disinfected every day.
“There are currently 7 cases on board, and the other half of a couple who tested positive yesterday also tested positive,”
The ship, carrying 66 crew and 53 passengers, left Barbados last week, but was forced to return to Barbados when a passenger contracted the virus on Wednesday.
