The Alaska Department of Corrections said in a statement on Saturday night that nearly thirty-two people in the state correctional facility in Fairbanks tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Corrections said that the case identified on Saturday involved 32 men and one woman in the total population of Fairbanks Correctional Center.

The corrections department said all staff and prisoners at the facility will be checked on Saturday night, adding that the results are expected to be returned on Monday night. Those who tested positive were isolated.

Commissioner of the Correctional Services Department Nancy Dahlstrom (Nancy Dahlstrom) said in a statement: “Although we never hope to come today, the FCC outbreak is an accident that the US Department of Defense has prepared for. The most vulnerable people , And determine any other cases in the organization.”

Data released by the Department of Corrections on Saturday showed that before the outbreak at the Fairbanks Correctional Center, there were only 5 cases of COVID-19 among ordinary prisoners in the state. There are another 97 cases of remand persons across the state, and disciplinary officials say this largely reflects those who were infected in the community rather than in closed facilities.

According to the Marshall Plan, by Thursday, 147,100 people in prisons nationwide had tested positive for COVID-19, and 1,246 of the prisoners had died of COVID-19.

Fairbanks has been fighting another epidemic in the collective living environment. In October, the Fairbanks Pioneer House detected several new COVID-19 cases among residents and staff. In the past few weeks, living houses managed by the government have reported 53 epidemic-related cases.
