2020 NFL withdrawal deadline: 5 players withdrew on the last day, including 1 jet receiver

The NFL and NFLPA finalized the rules regarding the exit agreement for the 2020 season earlier this week as players decide whether to risk playing football during the pandemic. The agreement established the exact deadline of 4 pm Eastern Time on Thursday, which has now passed. According to NFLPA regulations, only in this case can players have the opportunity to opt out: “A close family member is seriously infected with COVID, or they themselves have been newly diagnosed with a high-risk disease.”

There are two exit options. Players who meet the high-risk conditions will receive a $350,000 allowance, which is not counted as an advance salary, their contract will incur costs, and they will receive a cumulative season of free agents. Those who do not have high-risk qualifications can choose the voluntary withdrawal option, which includes an advance salary of $1

50,000 and contract tolls for the 2021 season, but it does not count towards the cumulative season.

Five players were added to Thursday’s withdrawal list: Jets WR Josh Desson, Chief Chief Lucas Niang, Bucs OT Brad Seton, Jaguars CB Rashaan Melvin And Browns G. Malcolm Platon. You can also find Full list of players who withdrew from 2020 Segment by team in the tracker.
