Google announced the winners of the 2018 Google Play Awards, and we are looking for winners in nine categories. Google says that the listed applications have not only proven to "provide delightful experiences for the fans," but also to have "greater positive impact on their communities." The first category that Google has listed on their website is "Standout Well-Being App," and the winner in this category is "Simple Habit," a meditation app designed to help people reduce stress, improve focus, and better sleep, relax faster, and so on. This category basically looks at apps that empower people to live the best version of their lives.
Be My Eyes App is the second winner Google has announced, and this app won in the Best Accessibility Experience category. This category explores apps that enable device interaction to serve people with disabilities or special needs, and the Be My Eyes app aims to help blind people. As for the category "Best Social Impact" has won the app "Khan Academy". The goal of this category was to choose an app that has a positive impact in communities around the world. The Khan Academy is basically a learning app that lets you learn just about anything, because there is a lot of content. "Old Man's Journey" is the app "Standout Indie" that Google has chosen, and that's a game in case you should ask yourself. In the "Best Community Building Game" category, Google chose the "Episode" app, which is a game that lets you "live" your stories. In doing so, you can make decisions that actually change the gameplay here to find games that do their best to connect players, promote social interaction, and so on.
The app "BBC Earth: Living in VR" won in the category "Best AR or VR Experience", while India's "Flipkart" actually managed to win in the category "Outstanding Build for Billions Experience". This category focuses on apps or games with optimized experience, localization and culturalization for emerging markets. The application "Canva" won in the category "Excellent Startup" and with this app you can create different designs for work, school etc. Last but not least, Google's Best Breakthrough Hit category, Small Giant Games' Empires & Puzzles app, won a popular puzzle / RPG game in this category.
