2 Shot in Frederick, Maryland; suspect killed in Fort Delhi – NBC4 Washington

Officials said the Naval Hospital officer shot and killed two people in an office park in Frederick, Maryland on Tuesday, then seriously wounded, and then went to Fort Derek, where he was fatally shot by personnel there.

Frederick authorities said the 38-year-old gunman shot and shot two men at a company in the Riverside Science and Technology Park in the 8400 block of Progress Avenue. They did not disclose the name of the company, nor did they know whether the shooting occurred internally or externally.

No information about any relationship between the suspect and the victim was immediately released.

Officials said that on Tuesday, a man shot and wounded two people at an office building in Frederick, Maryland, and then went to Fort Derek, where personnel there shot him fatally.

Frederick police chief Jason Lando said that the authorities received a call around 8:20 in the morning to report the “active shooting” of the Riverside Science Park. He said that people fled the business.

Lando said that shortly thereafter, the authorities received news that the suspect had gone to Fort Delhi, about 1

0 minutes’ drive away, and shot the suspect. Lando said that life-saving efforts were made on the suspect, but they failed.

Lando said there was only one shooter and no public threats.

“We have two different scenarios. All I can tell you is that we have confirmed that there is only one shooter,” Lando said. “The public is no longer in danger. Everyone is safe.”

The Navy said in a statement: “The U.S. Navy can confirm that an active shooter incident occurred in Fort Delhi, Maryland, involving a U.S. Navy sailor. The shooter was a naval hospital officer, deceased. As the situation develops , We will continue to provide more details.”

Two victims in the office park were airlifted to Baltimore to shock and traumatize them. The authorities said they were in a critical condition. No one else was injured.

Jeremy Mutschler, director of marketing for Nicolock Paving Stone, said that his understanding is that the shooting took place near the company’s Frederick location, not at the company itself.

“An injured victim entered our facility for help, and we were able to assist and call the authorities,” said Mutschler, based in New York.

Several roads in the shooting area were closed.

The district said in a tweet that several Frederick County public schools were “simply set to be closed.” “All students, faculty and staff are safe. The blockade has been lifted.” FCPS officials said.

Frederick Community College issued a lockdown alert and then issued a full clearance notice. The school said in a tweet: “There is no threat to the FCC campus.”

They said the authorities hope to provide another update on Tuesday afternoon.
