Wake Forest, North Carolina -Officials conducted water rescue at Falls Lake Dam on Sunday, but they could not stop a 19-year-old man from drowning.
The witness who accompanied the victim told the agent that they were swimming near a rock by the lake when the teenager asked for help and then suddenly went into the water. A friend of the victim tried to rescue him but was unsuccessful.
The Wake County Sheriff’s fleet was deployed within minutes of the beginning of the call, and the body was found at approximately 10:30 pm.
Eric Curry of the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said that safety must first be ensured when on the water.
Curry said: “Safety should always be the first thing you consider, not just having fun.”
A similar incident occurred in the same area last year, with a student and football player Davion Davis at Wakefield High School.
Curry said that caution must be exercised to avoid future tragedies.
He said: “Be careful, know where you are, and wear a life jacket.” “Whether it is fishing or taking a boat, this is necessary, even wading in the water, you should always consider safety first.”
