FRANKFURT, KY (LEX 18) — At his Monday press conference, Governor Andy Bessier announced that Kentucky has reported 1,455 new COVID-19 cases. After removing duplicates, 1,455 new cases brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in Kentucky to 258,517.
Governor Beshear pointed out: “Monday is always lower. Today’s situation is likely to be lower than usual. This is due to the combined reasons of the long holiday weekend and the bomb attack in Nashville that caused some communication interruptions.”
The positive rate on Monday was 7.97%.
Governor Beshear also reported 8 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Kentucky to 2,563.
As of Monday, 1,552 Kentucky were hospitalized for coronavirus-related reasons, of which 411 were in the intensive care unit and 217 were on ventilators.
