Coronaviruses are spreading more and more in more and more communities across the state, because the surge in cases is no longer mainly due to the concentration of a few postal codes in Oregon.
State data released by the Oregon Department of Health last week shows that in the week ending June 28, 1,402 confirmed or presumed new infections have been made, bringing the total to 8,485 (the number has since grown to more than 10,000. The ZIP data will be released on Wednesday).

An analysis conducted by The Oregonian / OregonLive showed that a total of at least 10 new cases were reported in 41 postal codes in Oregon. New cases have been widely found in Oregon, including two postal codes from Lake Oswego in the suburbs of Portland, and even the Irigon and Boardman communities in rural areas of Morro County.

The confirmed or presumed infection surged to 314, an increase of 140 a week.

The Oregon Department of Health is now reporting outbreaks of 11 cases related to Round Lande Hospital and 7 cases related to outdoor RV manufacturing. The agency also reported 9 cases related to the nursing facilities of New Day Enterprises and 5 cases related to Grande Ronde Retirement Residence.
The postal code has the fourth highest number of cases in Oregon, and the second highest per capita.
East Portland/Gresham 97233
The total number of confirmed or presumed infections was 245, an increase of 37.
This Multnomah County postcode regularly increases a large number of infections every week. County public health officials say that some cases in the central area of the county are related to workplaces in other nearby postcodes, or in certain closely linked immigrants and Spread among refugee communities.
The Oregon Health Department reported 10 cases of Pacifica Senior Living Portland outbreak in its latest weekly report.
The zip code ranks sixth in the state and 13th per capita.
The total number of cases was 286, an increase of 36 from the previous week.
The Marion County postal code was the most severely hit by the pandemic in the state earlier, but the case has slowed recently. There seems to be no reports of new peaks in the workplace or in nursing facilities.
The zip code ranks third in Oregon cases and eighth in per capita.
The total number of confirmed or presumed infections was 192, an increase of 34.
In the workplace or care facility, there does not seem to be a reported outbreak of this new growth in Marion County zip codes.
In the eight most cases in the state, per capita ranked 18th.
East Portland 97236
The total number of cases reached 336, an increase of 31 from a week ago.
Due to an outbreak in Foster Creek’s health care department this spring, the Multnomah County postal code has been the region’s hardest hit by coronavirus. The state is now reporting 6 cases of outbreaks in the lives of older people in Arcadia, 2 more than a week ago. County public health officials also said that some cases in Central Maltoma County are related to the workplace of other nearby postal codes and are scattered in some closely linked immigrant and refugee communities.
This zip code has the most cases in Oregon, ranking ninth per capita.
There were 144 confirmed or presumed infections, an increase of 30 from the previous week.
There seem to be no reports of such new peaks in the Matternoma County postcode in the workplace or in nursing facilities.
The postal code ranks 12th in the state in terms of infection rate, and ranks 32nd in per capita infection rate.
The total is 203, an increase of 29 from the previous week.
The Oregon Health Department reported that a new workplace outbreak occurred at the Oregon Harvesting Company, with a total of 10 diagnoses or presumed infections.
Overall, the Washington County ZIP code ranks seventh in cumulative infection rate and 20th in per capita infection rate.
There were 79 confirmed or presumed infections, an increase of 26 cases from a week ago.
Umatilla is located seven miles south of Hermiston and reportedly has the latest cases. In this particular Umatilla County postcode, there did not appear to be an outbreak in the workplace or in a nursing facility.
The zip code ranks 33rd in Oregon, and ranks 7th per capita.
East Portland/Gresham 97230
The total rose to 154, an increase of 26.
The Oregon Department of Health used this postal code to report two workplace outbreaks against businesses. Teeny Foods has confirmed 26 cases, an increase of 2 cases from the previous week, while Morasch Meats has 10 newly reported cases. At the same time, the state also reported an outbreak at the Pacific Gardens Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, which was associated with three confirmed or presumed infections.
The postal code is the 10th largest in Oregon, with the 24th largest per capita.
